I am inspired by color, pattern, and design. I never know what a piece will look like when finished as my vision and intentions develop during the process of making. I often start with a color palette and let the colors inspire the direction of the piece. My process unfolds organically.

Although mediums such as bookmaking and stained glass require precision and planning, there are points throughout the process of making a book or glass piece where they take a new or unexpected direction. This is when I am having the most fun creating.

I have collected all kinds of papers, fabrics and ephemera for as long as I can remember, not because I had a purpose for them but because I was drawn to their interesting qualities. Texture, design, color, vintage all come into play.

My artmaking is wide-ranging. Handmade books and paper arts, mixed media and assemblage, organic stained glass, fabric dyeing and meditative drawing. I love experimenting with different methods of dyeing fabric, soldering unusual inclusions in stained glass, or using mixed media materials in unexpected ways.

In the process of making art, I will “shop” my stash of materials, never knowing what I will find or what will jump out of the pile of treasures, but I always find the perfect item for whatever project I’m working on.

Art is a magical and playful process that gives me joy and a sense of fulfillment.
